Rouge Bunny Rouge ENCHANTING BLOOMS Tinted Luxe Balms Swatch & Review

I’ve always been a fan of Rouge Bunny Rouge lip products. In one of my early blog posts I reviewed the Rouge Bunny Rouge DAZZLING SIP Tinted Luxe balms** in Pinch of Nude, Sip of Pink and Specks of Cerise. Sadly, these three shades got discontinued when RBR revamped their Tinted Luxe Balms and came out with the ENCHANTING BLOOMS collection. My sadness was short lived as there are now more beautiful shades available that promise skincare benefits with a pop of color! These products were kindly sent to me, I hope you enjoy the post!

Rouge Bunny Rouge ENCHANTING BLOOMS Tinted Luxe Balms

RBR Tinted Luxe Balm is advertised as intensively moisturizing anti-age lip treatment that promises to plump and smooth fine lines in daily use. They call it a ‘balm’ but the product is also a dewy finish lipstick available in 7 colors. DAZZLING SIP in Pinch of Nude is now called Heavenly Honeysuckle and you can see swatches in my previous post. €29 for 3.5g / 0.12 oz.

The formula of these lipsticks is very similar to the original Tinted Luxe Balms, except there is more pigment in most colors. I think RBR’s description is very accurate, except I was sceptical of the “anti-age” benefits of these lipsticks. I guess it’s how you label anti-ageing, in general I’m not a fan of the word. Tinted Luxe Balms have a patented active complex from sunflower oil that promises to plump, improve elasticity and also smooth fine lines. I looked into these polyglycerides (fatty acid molecules attached to glycerin), which are an Ecocert approved technology that is non-sensitizing, non-irritating and a greener replacement for lanolin, wax and silicones. I couldn’t find studies, but the manufacturer does promise these effects. I doubt any lip product except for injections can bring back lost volume (=size), but smooth and nourish for sure.

My lips are in a fairly good shape, I don’t have lines that would bother me - but I also haven’t used these lipsticks for 4 weeks of daily use. However, I do like to replace my lip balm with these lipsticks - especially with the old Pinch of Nude (now Heavenly Honeysuckle) as it’s almost transparent, very nourishing and feels like it “sinks in” the lips instead feeling waxy on the top.

Wearing ENCHANTING BLOOMS Tinted Luxe Balms

Compared to previous Tinted Luxe Balms these have more pigmentation. The feel is hydrating and smoothing, perhaps more slippery than RBR’s other lip products. They remind me of SUQQU’s Extra Glow Lipsticks, which are also designed mature lips in mind. SUQQU is richer in texture, which makes lipstick slipping and sliding more noticeable: RBR has some transparency which you can build with extra swipes. The site says that Tinted Luxe Balms are delicately scented, but I haven’t paid any attention to the fragrance - if you’re sensitive to scents I think these should be okay.

I find it slightly hard to compare RBR lipsticks as they are all very good, same packaging and I use them interchangeably. The Sheer Lipsticks feel less moisturizing, less shiny compared to Tinted Luxe Balms while Color Burst Lipsticks are more opaque. All of them glide beautifully on the lips. The wear time isn’t very long, these do move if you eat or drink and there’s no stain left behind. However these lipsticks are a pleasure to reapply.

Overall thoughts

Again, Rouge Bunny Rouge is winning with their lipstick formula. I don’t find nudes as flattering on me as the juicy, vibrant reds and pinks, but I’ll likely use all shades because of the comfortable wear and lip pampering benefits. I fear RBR is discontinuing their Sheer Lipsticks (they are now on sale!), but the Tinted Luxe balms wear just as lovely. Rouge Bunny Rouge is one of those rare brands that doesn’t release massive collections every season, but put the effort and elegance in all of their products, producing only very best. I would never purchase a mere lip balm this pricey, but with this lovely color and finish I do recommend Tinted Luxe Balms.

If I had to pick a favorite.. Amazing Anemones is very lovely and my usual style, but so far I’ve used Lovely Lilacs the most! What’s your favorite shade? Have you tried Rouge Bunny Rouge?

Best Winter Lip Products: Lumene, Weleda and Kocostar

Many moons ago I told you about my love for these two lip balms: de Mamiel and Nuxe - they are still among my very favorites, but when lips get chapped the “need” for more lip balm intensifies. I believe some of you might relate to my need of having a lip balm in every bag (I rotate between a handbag and a backpack), perhaps a couple on the desk.. You know. Today I’m sharing you some newer lip treatments I’ve given a good test run. These items were press samples from different companies, I hope you’ll find something new and interesting!

First - I’m Not Addicted, I just Need A Lip Balm

I’m usually okay when it comes to lip balms: sensible, I don’t need to reapply every 2 minutes. This was the case until last November: my lips got super chapped and under eyes darker than darkness – the situation was severe! I think it’s partly the cold and partly the heating which dries out my already dry/dehydrated skin. Especially at my climbing gym the air can be so dry my lips are crying for moisture.

Here’s the bad part: I bite my lips. I can’t stand the feel of rough skin so I’m battling between picking/biting and applying more lip balm to ease the pain.. Today’s trio made some difference to the roughness, unlike countless chapsticks before.

Lumene Artic Hydra Care Rich Lip Cream*

7,90€ / 10ml

This new-ish release from Lumene took me by surprise! Arctic Hydra Care Rich Lip Balm looks like a pretty common lip balm tube, but the texture feels new and unique. If a cream could be described as watery or quenching, I would use those words. It’s very hydrating, sinks into the skin fairly quickly and doesn’t leave a film on the top. My lips keep begging for more so I sometimes sandwich Weleda Skin Food on the top. This lip balm is fragrance free, vegan and consists mostly of hydrating glycerin and moisturizing shea butter.

Weleda Skin Food*

15,95€ / 75ml available at House of Organic (FI)*

Speaking of Skin Food, this greasier cream is a cult classic from the eco brand Weleda. They call it an all purpose cream for dry and rough skin: face, elbows, knuckles, lips and so on. I mainly use it for lips as I feel it’s too heavy and herbal for all over the face, but this small tube comes in handy when my knuckles feel parched. The feel of this cream quite oily, which comes in hand when you want to protect your lips against cold weather or harsh wind. Famous makeup artists, such as Katie Jane Hughes, also suggest using this cream as a natural highlighter!

Kocostar Lip Mask*

29,90€ / 20 patches

This is the odd one of the bunch. At first I thought these lip masks are a gimmick, but just like eye patches, lip masks can feel very soothing and hydrating. I don’t notice any additional plumping effect from using this mask, but when my lips have been severely dry these do seem to make a difference on the hydration levels. After wearing the mask for ~5 minutes I top the essence with a heavy balm to seal it all in. The ingredients include hydrating glycerin, peppermint leaf water and green tea leaf extract. These masks stay nicely on my lips without slipping or sliding off, which is a major plus. Don’t let the try-on picture scare you! PS: the mask does sit on well, the fold you see is because of my lip piercing.

I think Lumene beats my Clarins classic lip balm and Weleda I like a lot for its multi-purpose use. The Kocostar masks are nice, but a bit of a novelty item which I wouldn’t necessarily purchase again. What’s your go-to lip balm right now? Right now I’m testing more lip balms from eco beauty brands, more to come later!

My Favorite Red Lip Products

Who doesn't love a red lip? Just like with hair styles or fashion, I think there is a perfect shade of red for everybody. I will talk about self-confidence and wearing red lipstick in another post. Today I just want to post an ode to color red and share my favorite red lip products with swatches. I kept the reviews or descriptions short and sweet, I hope you enjoy this type of post!

Oh Yeahh! Lip Balm in Red*

Cute balm with a slip to it. Gives a nice fresh tint to the lips, but doesn't stain them.

Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Kiss 'N' Tell

Cool, blue-based red. Glides easily without dragging the lips and has a good color pay-off. I like to wear this under very opaque lipsticks (Charlotte Tilbury, SUQQU). Available on Cult Beauty*.

Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Lipstick in Tell Laura

Gorgeous bright read that leans coral. Perfect "look at me" type of red, matte yet comfortable to wear. I recommend using a lip liner or blot the color as you'll notice if this lipstick moves and you don't want it stuck on your teeth. (EDIT: I thought this was a Matte Revolution formula, but online I’ve found it from Hot Lips section). Available on Cult Beauty*.

Tata Harper Volumizing Cheek & Lip Tint in Very Naughty

Newest addition to my reds and I'm already in love. Bright yet not too in-your-face type of red, has fairly neutral undertones and works perfectly on the cheeks as well.

Lancome Matte Shaker in Kiss Me Chérie

Very cool, almost pink red. Wears long and leaves a vibrant stain on the lips. Perfect for the Korean gradient lip look or dates when you plan to kiss.

Rouge Bunny Rouge Sheer Lipstick in 088 Relish of Heaven

The perfect balmy, sheer yet buildable cool pinky red. My go-to lipstick last year and still one of my favorite formulas.

SUQQU Extra Glow Lipstick 07*

What I call a perfect classic red. This glossy formula doesn't have the best wear-time and needs touching up during the day, but feels nicely balmy and moisturizing on the lips. Great pigmentation.

ADDICTION Lipstick Pure in 001 Tokyo Story

Bright fire engine red with cool undertones, makes your teeth look nicely white

ADDICTION Lipstick in Last Scene (discontinued)

Stain-like muted red, one of my favorite shades of all time. (Last Scene is available in the Sheer formula nowadays, but I haven't tested it.) Similar consistency to Bobbi Brown Crushed lipstick.

Bobbi Brown Crushed Lipstick in Ruby

Muted, stain-like browny red, like lips after a glass of red wine but many times prettier. Matte and leaves a tint on the lips.

THREE Shimering Lip Jam 08 Red Shoe Twist

My perfect blue based red lip gloss that's not gloopy or overly sticky. For me it is opaque enough to be worn alone.
