Don't you love it when you come home and there's a parcel for you? When I saw Charlotte Tilbury's long waited Hot Lips collection online, I bit the bullet and ordered two: Secret Salma and Tell Laura. All the colors in the collection are inspired by Charlotte's celebrity clients and there's a total of 16 shades available. The lipsticks retail 30€/3.5g (0.12oz) each and shipping from CT official website cost me an extra 9.95€. It took about a week them to ship out my order, but the delivery itself was only a couple of days.
Tell Laura and Secret Salma are both Charlotte Tilbury's new matte formula - or as she says 'luminous modern-matte'. I laughed at this description, but after wearing the lipsticks I see what she means. I find the wear of regular CT mattes fairly comfortable and long lasting, but not as revolutionary as some claim. Well moisturised lips are a must, as they can feel drying. The Hot Lips swatch smoother and creamier, leaving little stain on the skin. They are matte, but not powdery 'dead' sort of matte, and feel neither drying or moisturising. Very nice! For the perfect pout I'd still exfoliate and maybe line the lips. Here's what the colors look like applied from the bullet, no brush or lip liner.
Of course, I needed my namesake lipstick Tell Laura, but also because I admire the voice actress Laura Bailey. She's done numerous roles in my favorite video games, I was so happy she got recognised in the beauty world. After placing the order I realised there is another celebrity called Laura Bailey? Anyway, this shade is very beautiful, a perfect fire truck orange red with a hint of brick, not brown. Tell Laura would level up any plain t-shirt and jeans kind of day to another level. It's chic and adventurous, ready to steal the thunder from any matte, dark red.
Secret Salma is a plummy medium rose shade. Little bit shy, but on trend and very chic. Will definitely compliment both light and medium to dark skin tones. I'm really in love with this lipstick color! Below some comparisons to my other favorite lipsticks:
Who gravitates towards similar shades? ...Um, not me!! Clinique Poppy Pop is brighter, pinker and glossier finish than Tell Laura. They have totally different vibe. Bond Girl is a bit darker and has more nude/brown tones than Secret Salma. After I took the photos I remembered to compare Secret Salma to Clinique's Plum Pop: they're almost identical, except that Secret Salma has tiny bit more rose and is definitely a matte in comparison. I can justify owning both Poppy Pop and Tell Laura, but I'm probably letting go off Plum Pop as I prefer Tilbury's new, gorgeous formula.
Are you eyeing any of the Hot Lips?
