Let me first say I'm no model or a make up artist, just a gal who likes to play and paint her face. For New Years I did my interpretation of a Rouge Bunny Rouge look, the Rebel Princess Rhapsody, which was a lot of fun and something far from my comfort zone. I thought I would continue the series by experimenting with another look that I loved. When I saw the actress Kristen Steward modelling for Chanel Fall 2016 I was immediately sold. The eye kohl and cream shadow Kristen wore went to the top of my shopping list and with the help of my dear friend I was able to purchase them.
Make up worn
Eyes: Viseart neutral mattes palette with CHANEL Illusion D'ombre 128 Rouge Brûlé, Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Eros and Heroine Make mascara (film type, long and curl)
Brows: Viseart Structure palette, Rouge Bunny Rouge Earthshine Brow Expert gel
Skin: ADDICTION Skincare Foundation (01) and NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (Vanilla), no blush
Lips: MAC Cherry lip pencil and ADDICTION Tokyo Story lipstick
I kept the overall look rather simple, focusing on the sultry eyes and red lip. I added some smokyness and dimension to the eyes with the medium brown shades from Viseart 01 Neutral Mattes palette and liberally dabbed Rouge Brûlé on the top with a flat natural hair brush. This is my first and only Illusion D'ombre and I'm so impressed with the ease of application, the wear time on my hooded lids is also pretty good. I'm obsessed with the plummy burgundy eye stylo in Eros. For the lips I went with my old MAC lip pencil in cherry and my go-to classic red lipstick: Tokyo Story by ADDICTION. The brows I brushed upwards and applied a lot of defining mascara on my lashes. I love Japanese drug store mascaras and Heroine Make is just as good as everyone says!
I know I look nothing like beautiful Kristen, not even with my hair slick back, but let's ignore that. Looking back at these pictures, my eyes could've been more intense to match Kristen's. Perhaps the Chanel make up artist had used more matte shadows on her eyes? I had similarly applied Eros stylo on my waterline, but I'm not very comfortable with wearing kohl liner in the waterline and ended up taking it off. It looks pretty on other people, I just don't like the feeling. All in all I'm happy with my purchases and will continue experimenting with this look as I can't stop staring the shot.
What make up picture were you last inspired by? Would you pull off red eyes plus red lip look?
