THREE Shimmering Glow Duo 01 Review

Last time in Japan, I went little THREE crazy. I had paid little attention to the brand as cream eyeshadows and sheer shimmer textures didn't appeal to me. I still wouldn't pick up any eyeshadow quads as I'm afraid the creams would crease on my hooded eyes or dry out too quickly. TREE Shimmering Glow Duo is a cream highlighter duo, but I figured I'd use it a lot. I chose the lighter out of two: 01. The highlighter retails ¥4500(+tax)/ 6.8g.

This Spring Kubo make up (クボメイク or 生メイク) has been a popular trend in Japan. The Instagram famous make up artist named Yuji Kubo has helped many make up items to sell out once featured on his account. In iVoce magazine he recommends this highlighter duo.

Packaging and texture

The packaging is a well made, classy grey case with two highlighter pans. Like many THREE products, the formula has a lot of organically harvested botanical oils. I rarely prefer fingers over brushes, but THREE Shimmering Glow Duo is easy to dab on the cheeks with your fingertips. The heat of your hands warm up the botanical oils and help blending the highlighter on the skin effortlessly. The texture of the duo is smooth with some resistance to it. However, the product forms tiny clumps if you rub your finger back and forth. It doesn't affect the performance, but annoys me slightly.

The left shade is a beautiful warm copper, but way too dark for me to use as a highlighter. It makes a pretty blush topper on its own or mixed with the lighter shade, dabbed on the top of a nude or terracotta blush. The right shade is a pinky white and works on its own as a beautiful multipurpose highlight: on cheek bones, bridge of the nose, cupid's bow. The duo has a cream to powder formula with the rich application of a cream with longevity and finish of a powder.

I like THREE Shimmering Glow duo 01 a lot, I just wish the copper shade was a little lighter and pan surfaces would stay smoother to touch. I've been reaching this highlighter the most, no wonder it's been a best seller.
