Today's dedicated review is long overdue, but the products have popped some other posts since their launch: Rouge Bunny Rouge's Long-Lasting Duo Cream Shadow in The Gossammer Wing was first featured in my 3 x One Shadow Wonders post and I used Birdwing Beauteous in my New Year's Eve look. They're such gorgeous shadows I believe they deserve a dedicated post. Many thanks for RBR team for sending me these products for review. As much as I love the brand I assure you my opinions are completely honest and my own. Enjoy!
SILK AETHER Long-lasting Duo Cream Eye Shadow
Now that name is a mouthful. In general I find long titles tiring, but RBR product names and color descriptions are always beautifully accurate: 1st collection, then description and lastly the shade names. This time I had to check what's a Gossammer. The online dictionary explains it: a piece of cobweb or other very light or delicate material. The ethereal look of the eyeshadow does remind me of something delicate and silky floating and glistening in the air. The SILK AETHER Long-Lasting Duo Cream Eye Shadows are available in two duo shades: Gossammer Wing (paler nude and taupe) and Birdwing Beauteous (shimmering champagne and black). Each duo shadow is 8 ml/ 0.27 fl oz for 42€/ $45 on the RBR website.
The eyeshadow wands are double sided, easy to roll open and come with a doe-foot applicator. Each shade is easy to distinguishable as the tubes are colored with according to the eyeshadows. The doe foot applicator easily doses the correct amount of color for one eye lid, at least I found the amount of color very balanced.
- Gossammer Wing is a pale milky nude and a taupey medium brown
- Birdwing Beauteous is a shimmering champagne and a glittery black with a blue shift
Now, I was a little intimidated to use this product. I trust my RBR, but a cream shadow a all over my hooded lids is usually a crease party after a couple of hours. Cream shadows are something I enjoy tremendously, but I'm not exactly the ideal candidate to wear them: My eyelid skin is fairly normal (opposed to oily), but my lids are hooded and I slather on eye cream and beauty oil every morning. Creasing is an absolute no-no when I'm choosing an eyeshadow to wear, so I quickly stray away from formulas that won't last minimum of 8h on me. I'm happy to say RBR Duo Cream Eye Shadows set and stay in place. I would still use an eyeshadow primer if you're a candidate for creasing.
The eyeshadow apply like a mousse with a doe foot applicator. I like the precise applicator, but sometimes using Gossamer Wing I wish it would pick up more product. However, too little is better than too much or things might get messy. After the application you have a couple of seconds to blend until the formula sets in place. The finish stays about the same (instead of cream to powder) and looks very smooth and natural. I have no ideas how they've achieved this formula as it blends to the skin instead of being a heavy layer on the top of the lids.

Shopping with Rouge Bunny Rouge
I'd like to share my shopping experience with RBR. Although I've got some items as PR samples I've placed nearly a dozen orders to the website and they're one of my top beauty sites to shop with. First of all the customer service is excellent: quick replies to email inquiries and never copy-paste answers. Secondly, the international shipping is FREE for purchases over 50€ plus you get to select 3 samples with your purchase (foundations, highlighters, perfume within the USA etc). The sample sizes are decent, for example you get several uses out of the highlighter samples. Keep your eyes peeled for -20% discount codes (they repost those on Twitter) and seasonal deals and gifts: 3 lipsticks for the price of 2, additional eyeshadow palette or a gift box etc. are a few recent GWP's I've seen. Of course, as my reader you can -20% off with the code RBR-LAURALOUKOLA20 (non-affiliated).
Rouge Bunny Rouge's Long Lasting Duo Cream Eyeshadows are on the better side of cream eyeshadows I've tried. However, I would still use a primer or translucent powder on the top of the cream shadows if your lids are as hooded as mine. The wear time has been +8h on me without creasing. I also love it how blendable the shadows are, Gossammer Wing is a perfect natural, nude everyday duo and Birdwing Beauteous stunning for more outgoing looks. I hope RBR comes out with more shades in the future, I'd love to purchase more!
*Birdwing Beauteous is a PR sample, Gossammer Wing purchased on my own. Thoughts are my own.
