In Spring 2017, RBR came out with the 3rd RAW GARDEN eyeshadow palette. I've previously reviewed the more cool toned palette Caliche and warmer Antigo - and I'm happy to say I'm on the same lines with the newest quad, Loess. Let's take a closer look, shall we!
Raw Garden: Loess
Just like the other palettes in the RAW GARDEN series, Loess comes with four shades seamlessly in one big pan with a beautiful zig-zag embossing. Personally I find it easy to pick up product without mixing the shades (unless I want to). The palette has a nice weight to it, a secure magnetic closure and a decent sized mirror. Loess retails 59€ for 7 g / 0.25 oz on Rouge Bunny Rouge website.
Performance and texture
I'm happy to say my love for RAW GARDEN shadows hasn't decreased. The shadows have an unique soft-to-touch texture and a beautiful satin-matte finish. There's no visible glitter or sparkle particles, but all the shades have a subtle sheen, giving a beautiful three dimensional look on the lids. The feel on the skin is silky, thin, almost "melting" sensation as the colors blend together: never dry, chalky or powdery like with many traditional powder eyeshadows. The formula is enriched with dimethicone, argan oil and hyaluronic acid for even smoother and softer application.
There isn't a lot of powder kickback when you dip your brush in the Loess, but due to the soft nature of the shadows I recommend only softest (squirrel hair) brushes. I'd describe the pigmentation medium and buildable as the color payoff is good but not overly intense. Vigorous brush work is unnecessary as the shades apply and blend effortlessly. I've noticed no quality differences among the quads and the eyeshadows wear: ~8h without creasing on my hooded eyelids. However, I'd dare to say the regular RBR mattes wear a fraction better as they're less buttery. Still, Rouge Bunny Rouge Raw Garden shadows deliver excellence.

Personally I love the look of this quad: it's has some color (yellow, pink) without straying away from the safe, neutral zone. The finish is so beautiful and the shadows smooth to touch you simply can't get wrong with it. Only if you're a diehard fan of very stark, intense shadows or chunky glitters then this formula might be to get used to. I find the RAW GARDEN quads a great addition to anyone's collection used alone or mixed-and-matched with other finishes. The palette is quite up there in the price, definitely an investment, but then again 7g/0.25oz is a generous amount of eyeshadow. And not just any but silky, decently pigmented shadow.
