I've accumulated a decent beauty stash and a fair obsession for new, interesting products, but I sadly have only once face! I also like to rotate my products, but it's finally time for another empties post! I'm featuring mainly skincare, but there are a couple of body and makeup items as well. Empties are one of my favorite post/video themes a lot as I find the final opinion more interesting and relevant than any first impression. Let me warn you - this post is going to be a long one! Enjoy!
Verso Super Eye Serum
I was quite impressed with this eye serum as it's packed with retinol yet gentle enough for the eye area. My fine lines might've not disappeared, but I felt like the under eye area had improved. Although this product is labeled as a 'serum' I felt like it was hydrating enough on its own. I'm very sad I ran out and definitely planing to repurchase in the future.
Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado
I've repurchased the Kiehl's cult avocado eye cream for a couple of times as it's good for layering with other eye serums and the thick texture feels protecting in harsh weather conditions (like Finnish Winter). I don't feel it's exactly hydrating, but more like a moisture barrier for the eye area. I find it good and affordable, just as long as you don't expect any miracles with this cream. Will probably repurchase in Winter.
Rituals... Good Luck Scrub & Ritual of Sakura body cream
Rituals is one of my favorite body care brands, sadly not available in Finland. The Sakura body cream was a bit.. whatever, but I did like the scrub OK. Sugary Good Luck isn't my favorite scent or texture though, I like the salty Himalaya scrub aroma the best. Wouldn't repurchase either of these scents, but overall I do like products from the brand.
Laura Mercier: crème de pistache body butter
Oh dear, this is old and it was time to go. I originally purchased this body butter on sale after seeing blogger Fleur de Force rave about it and yes, I enjoyed the texture but the pistachio fragrance wasn't totally mesmerizing me. I'm not totally against repurchasing or trying Laura Mercier's other body products, but I think there are other "better" investments for the price when it comes to luxury body products. For example, I'm enjoying the Max and Me body oil and Kiehl's body butters a lot at this moment.
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream
I used this for my body, it was okay, but nothing really memorable. Absorbed good and was unscented, but I doubt I would repurchase.
Heimish All clean balm
This cleansing balm was performed excellent for removing makeup and at the time I enjoyed it a lot. Check out my full review here. For removing makeup I might consider repurchasing this as it's budget friendly and effective, but I've lately discovered several eco friendly cleansing balms with more impressive ingredients. I admit was so excited about them I had totally forgotten about Heimish. Stay tuned for my upcoming article on my new favorite cleansing balms!
Tata Harper Purifying Cleanser
If I remember correctly this mini bottle was a gift with purchase, but large enough to form an opinion. I've been dying to try Tata after reading all the hype online, yet unfortunately I wasn't too keen on this cleanser. It was an okay AM or 2nd cleanser, I liked the scent, but found the product irritating my eyes a bit. Not purchasing.
Josh Rosebrook Complete moisture cleanse
Unlike the cleanser above, in a nutshell I'm sad I ran out of this one and planing to repurchase it some point. Very gentle yet smoothing, moisturising and packed with good ingredients. And the smell - I just can't get over Josh Rosebrook products' scent (divine). Read my full review here.
January Labs Revitalizing Day Cream x2
You can tell this is a favorite when there are two empties.. I'm currently working my way through the 4th bottle. I love this day cream. I am still looking forward using this every morning. If you've seen any of my AM routines on my Instagram you know this product is a staple. The texture is silky, absorbs instantly, leaving my skin beautifully moisturised. I've had less issues with my dry skin and I believe it's partly thanks to this cream. The packaging is also top quality as it squeezes out every last drop of the product and the pump is easy to use. For my full review check out this post.
NIOD Multi-molecular hyaluronic complex
Recently I've been a bit underwhelmed with NIOD products and I'm actually glad I used up. I like NIOD's "sciency" skincare philosophy and appreciate when a hydrating serum has a variety forms of hyaluronic compounds instead of mere sodium hyaluronate, but why this product was a lackluster for me was the little change I saw in my skin. They now have a new version of this serum available, but I doubt I'll be ordering it anytime soon.
NIOD Ethylated L-ascorbic acid 30% network
Another NIOD product I wasn't too impressed by, their line seems to be a hit or miss for me. I did like NAAP at the time I reviewed it, but ELAN didn't very much improve my skin. Could be that my few disappointments with NIOD also made me dubious of its performance and I've now been using other Vitamin C serums instead. I do like how affordable it is compared to many alternatives, but right now I'm not really missing this serum.
SK-II Facial Treatment Essence
I'm a bit torn with this product as I did like it, but did I see much improvement in my skin? Not so sure. I purchased the smaller size after being exposed to all the hype of this cult classic product, but most significant difference was the dent in my wallet. I tried using the essence ON and OFF periodically as I read from reliable bloggers "you'll notice the difference when you're not using it". I didn't. No matter how much I wanted to belong in the FTE bandwagon, I didn't.
Omorovicza Deep cleansing mask
This mask is aimed for treating congestion and drawing out impurities, but personally I don't think it was for me. I like Omorovicza a lot, but this mask didn't amaze me by doing a major difference for my skin. It was pleasant to use, but I think someone with more oily or congested skin would benefit from it. Didn't feel like a bad product, but I wouldn't purchase it for myself. Glad I only had the sample size.
Max and Me Sweet serenity mask&wash (mini)
Max and Me has quickly become one of my favorite brands, but I'm quite sceptic when it comes to masks. I did fell in love with this mini sample size, it was truly a sensorial pleasure and luxurious to use. I didn't dare to "waste" it and only used as a mask. It was difficult to pinpoint what was the main benefit from this mask as it's designed to treat multiple of skin concerns. After using the mask my skin was hydrated, balanced, overall in a beautiful condition. It was also a treat for the mind. I'd love to purchase the full size, but here comes my problem with the mask: it's hella expensive. The ingredients are high quality for sure, but it's still quite an investment.
Innisfree Eco safety perfect sunblock SPF50 PA+++
I've gone through countless tubes of this sunscreen, I'm using one now and have two backups in my cabinet. Holy Grail. See my review here.
LUSH Fairly traded honey shampoo
I'm not much of a LUSH enthusiast, but after trying a sample of this shampoo I fell in love. It's fairly expensive for a shampoo, but luckily a small bottle lasts long for my short hair. In all honesty I'm quite critical about whether a product makes significant difference for the price, but I feel this LUSH shampoo does deliver: giving my hair beautiful shine and making it overall healthier looking. My natural hair is pretty coarse and I straighten it regularly, so the added shine is very welcome.
YSL Rouge pur couture no 9
I did enjoy this lip gloss a lot: the color was very nice, good applicator and nice texture, but its sweet scent turned somewhat unpleasant and odd. Time to toss it.
SUQQU Eyebrow Liquid pen R 02 Brown
I wanted to love and adore this product after seeing my favorite makeup artist Lisa Eldridge and blogger Karima McKimmie use it in countless of tutorials. I wish the ink had been a little more pigmented and I found the brush tip got clocked a bit too quickly for my liking. It was not a bad product, but due to my high expectations I was a little underwhelmed. Would I give it another chance and repurchase? Yes I would.
Rouge Bunny Rouge Alchemy: Long lasting brow liner (Trona and Antimony)
Compared to SUQQU, I was more impressed by these eyebrow liners. At first I was in love with the darker Antimony, but in the end it was Trona (lighter) that became my favorite. Click here for my full review and swatches. My only peevee with these pens were the amount of product as I felt in daily use I ran out of these quite quickly. These liners were kindly sent as PR samples, but I'm planing to purchase Trona in the future.
Thanks for reading! Have you used any of these products?
This post features products from NIOD, Verso and RBR that were provided as PR samples. However, all opinions are my own, honest and uninfluenced. My posts contain no affiliate links.
